FLAM is the federation of martial arts exclusively recognized and backed by the Luxembourg Government (Ministry of Sports, "Département ministériel des Sports") and the National Olympic Committee (COSL)

It regroups about 3’402 individuals practicing different martial arts in 45 clubs and dojos.

The FLAM-Aikido is the only officially recognized AIKIKAI organization in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg since 1984, which means that it has been officially recognized by the AIKIKAI Foundation, The World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.

The instructors are trained and certified by the ENEPS ("Ecole Nationale de l'Education Physique et des Sports"). They are also certified teachers by the Aikikai once they reach the level of Nidan (Fukushidoin) and Yondan Aikikai (Shidoin).

The FLAM/Aikido is a full founding member of the I.A.F. (International Aikido Federation) since 1976

and a member of the E.A.F. (European Aikido Federation) since 1971.

FLAM was founded in 1952. Aikido was introduced in Luxembourg in November 1955 when M. Mochizuki Sensei and Tadashi Abe Sensei gave a demonstration during a judo meeting. The first Aikido class was held in Luxembourg on November 16, 1970. The first dojo joined the Martial Arts Federation in 1970. The first international seminar was organised with Tamura Shihan in 1971. Doshu Kishomaru Ueshiba visited Luxembourg in 1979.

Organisation

The Aikido Section in the FLAM (LUXEMBOURG AIKIKAI) regroups 3 dojos with 293 individuals in 2008:

FLAM is governed by a Directing Committee and a Technical Committee.

FLAM Aikido has a Dan Examination Committee.

The Aikikai Person in Charge for Aikido in Luxembourg is: Mr. J.J. SCHEUREN 5th Dan Aikikai, Shidoin
